I have both spectrum and at&t fiber at home. I’ve had spectrum at least 10 years and got at&t fiber about 9 months ago. I have had at&t fiber at my office for several years.

AT&T is fast. Their router is ok but slow, but you can get around it with some technical knowledge and increase your bandwidth beyond what you pay for (I get symmetrical 1.4Gbit and pay for gig). Overall I recommend it and it’s had exceptional uptime both home at and my office.

Spectrum isn’t as fast but it’s almost as reliable. Their modem is fine and supports 2.5Gbit over ethenet. HOWEVER there are some caveats:
Their routers/wifi (not modem) are awful and should be avoided. Any good quality wifi router will be an improvement over Spectrums equipment.
The analog nature of cable in general is subject to interface as well as poor connections that can be split before they even enter your residence. On top of that, weather and company equipment all play a part, it’s just an significantly older technology (copper vs. fiber optics)

I will say uptime since ATT came to town has been great, before that I’d still say 98-99% monthly uptime overall.

Find out what your other options are for internet out where you live and then call up spectrum. Ask for customer retention because you want to cancel your service. Tell them it’s too expensive, they’re going to give you an offer and you’re going to most likely take it, especially if it’s under 60 bucks a month. Then go get yourself a better router and try it out for a month. If your experience is better, 👍 and you’re paying less.

If AT&t fiber is available (ONLY Fiber because you don’t want their old aDSL) and you don’t mind switching, I’d do that. Otherwise try a new router with Spectrum.
